Multi-Tenant EtherPoint Auto-Login Instructions for Windows 2000

Note: In order to use 802.1x Auto-Login, Windows 2000 must be updated to Service Pack 4 and the "Wireless Configuration" service must be running. Please contact your computer manufacturer for information on how to update to Service Pack 4 or enable the "Wireless Configuration" service.

1) From the desktop, click "Start," go to "Settings," and select "Control Panel."

2) The "Control Panel" will now open, double click on the "Network and Dial-up Connections" icon to continue.

3) The "Network and Dial-up Connections" window will now open, right-click on the "Local Area Connection" icon and select "Properties."

4) The "Local Area Connection Properties" dialogue will now appear, click on the "Authentication" tab to continue.

5) On the "Authentication" tab, verify that "Enable network access control using IEEE 802.1X" is checked. On the "EAP type:" drop down, select "Protected EAP (PEAP)."

6) When your screen resembles the screen below, click the "Properties" button.

7) The "Protected EAP Properties" dialogue will now open, uncheck "Validate server certificate." Place a check in "Enable Fast Reconnect." When your screen resembles the one below click "Configure.. ."

8) The "EAP MSCHAPv2 Properties" dialogue will now appear, uncheck "Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any)." Click "OK" to continue.

9) You will be returned to the "Protected EAP Properties" dialogue, click "OK" to continue.

10) You will be returned to the "Local Area Connection Properties" dialogue, click "OK" to continue.

11) The "Logon Credentials" dialogue will now appear, enter the username and password that you were provided in the appropriate fields. The "Logon domain:" field should be left blank. Click on "OK" to connect.

Note: Usernames and Passwords are case-sensitive. Please be certain that your capitalization is correct.

Your computer has now been setup to automatically login using 802.1x. You are now ready to enjoy all the Internet has to offer.
