PenTeleData announces industry leading Usenet service upgrade.

Dear valued customer,

Please carefully read this important system announcement that outlines an upgrade PenTeleData is making to your Usenet newsgroup service. Usenet is a system for reading and posting to over 67,000 public message forums.

PenTeleData has introduced powerful new resources for our customers to enjoy that will further expand our Usenet newsgroup offerings. Benefits of the Usenet service features include significantly longer article retention times and increased completeness of multipart binaries.

All residential and commercial customers that log in to news with a login and password should convert to the new Usenet service now. Commercial customers that authenticate by IP (not login and password) will be contacted by our sales group.

Effective Oct. 20, PenTeleData customers can begin using the upgraded Usenet newsgroup service. All customers must change their software settings to utilize the new servers. PenTeleData plans to retire the old server, news.ptd.net, on Dec. 16, 2003.

Please be advised that customers with ProLog and ProLog Express services will receive 10 Gigabytes (GB) of newsgroup transfer a month. Customers who currently pay $8.95 per month for news service will be limited to 4 GB of data transfer per month. All ProLog Limited Access accounts ($5.95 for 10 hours) will have 1 GB of newsgroup transfer per month. Further details are available at www.ptd.net/services.

Monday, 10/20/03 all customers on the new and old service will have roaming news privileges. Current customers who are paying for roaming news service on our existing system will no longer be charged for the feature.
