Q: How can I upload my website content onto my website? A: You must use Microsoft FrontPage to upload content to our Windows network. Q: Are statistics available for my website? A: Yes. To access the statistics for your website, visit http://stats.nt.ptd.net and enter your server domain (website address) as well as your username and password. Q: My website’s statistics are all zero, why? A: Either your website has received no visitors during the time the statistics were created or the importing of the statistics information may have failed due to a problem reading your website's log files. Please email webmaster@ptd.net so we can investigate this issue. Q: What scripting formats can I use on my website? A: Websites hosted on our Windows network may use ASP and ASP.Net V1.1. You may also use ASP.Net v2.0 and PHP, but you must first email webmaster@ptd.net to activate these languages for your website. Q: May I use a database on my website? A: You may use a Microsoft Access database on your website. If you require an ODBC connection set-up, please contact webmaster@ptd.net with the correct DSN connection information. A: Yes, using an FTP client, connect to ftp.nt.ptd.net and authenticate using the same username and password you use with FrontPage. A: No, however it is possible to send mail via ASP. More information about accomplishing this is available at http://www.w3schools.com/asp/asp_send_email.asp. A: Yes, we support ASP.Net on our Windows network. Due to the exclusive nature of ASP.Net, you must either V1.1 or V2.0. All website default to V1.1, so please email webmaster@ptd.net to use V2.0 instead. Q: What does "author access required" mean? A: There may be a problem with the permissions on your website. Please e-mail webmaster@ptd.net for assistance with resolving this issue. A: No, however, FTP is available. Using an FTP client, connect to ftp.nt.ptd.net and authenticate using the same username and password you using with FrontPage. A: No, chmod does not function on the Windows FTP server. File security change requests should be e-mailed to webmaster@ptd.net. Q: I received a disk usage warning, what does this mean? A: This notification means that the amount of disk space used by your website currently exceeds the limits of your purchased web-hosting plan. If you have not recently uploaded files, deleting old log files may alleviate the problem. These log files are located in the "/logs" directory of your website. Using either FTP, FrontPage, telnet or SSH, you can delete log files which are out of date. Another common cause of disk usage is large media uploads, such as video or audio files. If you do not require these files, please remove them to reduce your site to within the assigned limits. If you have performed these steps and your website is still too large, please contact 1-800-281-3564 x7715 to discuss upgrades to your current hosting plan. Q: Why am I having trouble connecting to my FrontPage website? A: You may need to change your username field to a fully qualified network name. To make this change, replace the name http# with nt.ptd.net\http# If this does not resolve the problem, please contact PenTeleData’s Network Control Center at 1.800.281.3564. |
